About us

We see ourselves as a community of fashion-conscious people who believe that change comes with self-determination and that we are guests on this wonderful planet. Everything is in constant change and we are therefore open to new ideas for living or consuming.

Every year, an estimated 22 billion pairs of shoes end up in the trash worldwide. This leads to a loss of valuable material resources and an unnecessary increase in CO2 emissions.

Overconsumption as a challenge

An important reason for overconsumption is the phenomenon of fashion and its constant change.
Fashionable self-determination is a valuable asset of personal freedom and the human desire to establish one's own identity through fashion is a basic need not only in our Western society.

A growing number of people have recognized the global problem and want to consciously change their consumer behavior. But they are not prepared to give up their freedom to choose their own fashion choices. We totally agree!

loss of material resources

Why aren’t more materials from worn-out shoes recycled? The main reasons are

  • high product complexity

  • missing processes or product concepts

  • lack of incentives to return goods to suppliers.

There aren’t even any smart solutions on the market for sandals yet!

In general, the longer a product is used, the better the use of resources and the smaller the carbon footprint. How can this be linked to the ever-changing fashion?

Adaptability as key

Our answer to this dilemma is the RESLIDES sandals. With the patented modular design, we create the flexibility to respond to changing needs in the short and long term and thus easily extend the use. Because if you can adapt your sandals to your current style, you don't need new ones. Change your straps - update instead of buying new ones! This will also save you money in the long term.

Trend-resistant design

RESLIDES sandals are style-oriented but timeless in their minimalist design - unisex and inspired by functionalism in outdoor fashion - ideal for your daily urban adventures. We use technical materials that are high-quality, durable and recyclable. Design & development takes place with a lot of passion in Zurich, Switzerland.

Made in Europe >95%

We can't say that 100% yet. The soles are made in Italy, the buckles in Switzerland and for the straps we are still working with suppliers from Asia and Europe. The aim here is to have all components "Made in Central Europe" as soon as possible so that transport routes are kept as short as possible.

Circular economy

We have to move away from linear economy! In order to close the material cycles, we take back the RESLIDES components at the end of their useful life in order to make new ones from them - in accordance with the principles of Cradle-2-Cradle. Your return is essential and will be rewarded with a refund of the CIRCULARITY CREDIT.

Most shoes on the market are difficult or impossible to recycle. Current estimates put the global shoe recycling rate at less than 5%.

Why is there hardly any recycling?

The challenge of recycling shoes is that they are usually made of many different materials. For recycling, a shoe must be dismantled into its individual parts so that all leather, rubber, textile, plastic and metal components are separated from one another. In reality, this is complicated and costly because the components are usually sewn, glued or welded. So worn-out shoes are usually burned, even if sustainable materials are used.

With RESLIDES we want to do things differently!

Our sandals are modularly constructed from three different mono-material components: soles - straps - buckles. These can be easily separated from one another as they are not firmly connected. This means that we can simply take retired RESLIDES sandals apart, sort them and recycle them separately, or even refurbish and reuse some of them.

How do used RESLIDES get back to us?

Part of our DNA at RESLIDES is the concept of closing-the-loop. We do everything we can to ensure that the materials in our products are recycled at the end of their life cycle.

In order to close the cycle, it is necessary that the used RESLIDES components are sent back to us so that we can recycle them.

  • Either you send the worn components back to us in the shipping packaging via the TRADE-IN program when you receive a new order,

  • or you choose the RETURN AFTER USE program: you order a free return label in our shop and send the components back in any used box.

We reward returns with a refund of up to 100% of the CIRCULARITY CREDIT and cover the costs incurred in order to recover as many worn-out RESLIDES as possible and thus fulfill our mission.

The CIRCULARITY CREDIT that we have introduced for this process is part of the purchase price and can be understood as a material deposit for the RESLIDES sandals. The purchase price is therefore made up of the product price + CIRCULARITY CREDIT.

Outlook

On the way there, we will have to try out, discard and rethink many ideas. Of course, not everything will work out perfectly right away and there will always be stumbling blocks, but that shouldn't deter us from our goal.
